Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

Kinmise helps households plan meals, save recipes, shop, cook, and manage pantry items. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app and contact support.

Who is responsible

Steve Erickson operates Kinmise. For privacy questions or requests, email support@kinmise.app.

Information we process

What stays on your device and what is shared

The app stores local data to support use between connections. Signed-in household content is synchronized through our cloud service. Other members of your household can view and change shared content, so invite only people you trust.

Saved recipe photos can be uploaded for household synchronization. For pantry photo reading, the photos you select are sent through our server to OpenAI for extraction; that scan does not save the source photos in Kinmise cloud storage. You review extracted items before adding them to your pantry.

Optional AI features

When you choose an AI feature, the app explains the information being sent and asks for permission. OpenAI processes the information needed for that request:

You can decline and use manual features. If you choose to remember food-illustration consent, it applies to later requests of that kind. Do not submit private information in recipe text or photos unless you want it processed for the chosen feature. AI results may be wrong; review amounts, allergens, and cooking instructions.

Provider retention and processing rules also apply. We do not promise that AI inputs are never retained or that all processing occurs in the United States. See OpenAI’s privacy information.

Why we use information

We use information to operate accounts and households, synchronize content, provide requested features, send service and invitation emails, verify memberships, prevent misuse, troubleshoot problems, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party behavioral advertising.

Service providers

ProviderPurpose
SupabaseAuthentication, database, cloud storage, and synchronization.
AppleApp distribution, optional Apple sign-in, subscriptions, and device permission services.
OpenAIOptional AI processing described above.

If store search is offered and you choose it, the store or location search text is sent to Google Places. See Google’s privacy policy. Manual store entry remains available.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or in a business transfer subject to applicable protections.

Retention and account deletion

We keep account and household information while needed to provide the service. You can delete content using the app’s controls and initiate account deletion under Account and settings → Account → Delete Kinmise account. Follow the confirmation steps; an Apple-linked account may ask you to confirm your Apple identity again.

Deleting an account removes its access and account record. Shared content may remain for other household members. If the household owner leaves, ownership transfers to the longest-standing remaining member; if the owner is the only member, the household’s cloud content and photos are deleted. Information required for security, purchase records, legal obligations, or limited backup recovery may remain while needed for those purposes.

Local copies or copies held by other household members are separate from the cloud account. Signing out does not erase saved local content. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; manage your subscription with Apple.

Your choices and security

You can edit information in the app, decline optional AI requests, change camera and photo permissions in iOS settings, and email support to request access, correction, or deletion. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Access controls and other safeguards reduce risk, but no service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

Kinmise is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Teens should use the service with a parent or guardian’s permission.

Policy changes

We will update the date on this page when this policy changes and provide additional notice when required.
